I'll be honest, as an Australian, I am a big fan of our long-running alliance with our Yankee friends. No way would we ever want to be without them. I'd be quite happy to have the Marines crash on our collective couch. Would also be a great boost to our work in securing ongoing defense and support projects with our other pacific allies. Unity among us all is going to be vital.
I hope that everyone is war gaming the scenario where ICBMs show up in early warning that might be nukes and might not—just conventional or even "send-a-message" unarmed. The last time I looked, received wisdom was that first strike use was counter-battery. An incoming on the way to Honolulu or Anchorage allows a tit-for-tat response in either use case. But it seems kinda destabilizing.
